IntroductionInternet2 (I2) is a major national collaborative effort involving over 100 Universities and other industrial and governmental affiliates. The goal of I2 is to construct and operate a research network with greater than 100 times the bandwidth typical of the current internet. As charter members of I2, The University of Alabama (UA) and The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) are leading Alabama and the region to a new era in communication and collaborative technology. NEWS:Network and Computing Support will be hosting an Internet2 Day event on Thursday, March 18 in Gordon Palmer Hall room A-232. The purpose of the Internet2 Day event is to showcase some of the current uses of Internet2 at other institutions and help introduce the technology to the UA community. The day will consist of multiple individual presentations, so feel free to stop in at any time. To assist us with planning, please contact Unix.Support@ua.edu to indicate your interests. Available materials: The following will also be available in printed form on the day of the event.
